The 8th Comenius studying meeting was in Gymnasium Kenzingen, in Germany from 11- 15 March 2013. 8 students and 3 teachers from Kohtla - Järve Ühisgümnaasium visited this gymnasium.
On Monday (March 11, 2013), we arrived at Frankfort International Airport at 7.25. After the warm meeteing with our German partners and partners from Turkey we went to Bronnbach Monastery, where we got to know each other and saw the Monastery. Then we went to Würzburg, where we had a night at Würzburg youth hostel and met our partners from Hungary. In Würzburg we visited Würzburg Residence (Barock castle, UNESCO world heritage site), had a guided walk around Würzburg, saw Marienfeste and the town.
On Tuesday (March 12, 2013), we went Heidelberg via Rothenburg/Tauber, had a guided visit of Rothenburg medieval town, checked-in at Heidelberg youth hostel, visited Heidelberg castle and had a short guided tour around the old town.
On Wednesday (March 13, 2013), we went to Strasburg, visited the cathedral, old town, Petite France, saw timbered houses and tasted Flammenkuchen in Flam’s restaurant. Then we went to Kenzingen, we arrived at 19.00 at Gymnasium Kenzingen, all students were hosted in families for three nights.
On Thursday (March 14, 2013), we spent all this day in Gymnasium Kenzingen. First, we had the official reception by the headmaster of Gymnasium Kenzingen, Mr. Günter Krug. Second, all participants presented their creative works: “Our philosophers and their philosophical works” . Then, we had the official reception at Kenzingen Town hall by Mayor Matthias Guderjan. And finally, we had the intercultural evening, Offene Bühne/Open stage: Fest der Kulturen/Festival of different cultures, where we recited a poem by Estonian poetess Lydia Koidula "My Fatherland is My Love" and danced a folk dance, Kaks sammu sissepoole.
On Friday (March 15, 2013), we had a seminar in Gymnasium Kenzingen: “Freedom of thought in our
constitutions” and “Handling cultural differences”, then we went to Freiburg and had a guided tour (cathedral + old town) + free time for sightseeing + shopping, returned back to Kenzingen and had a Farewell dinner at “Haferkasten”, Kenzingen. Our deligation left Kenzingen at 22.50 by train to Frankfort and then by plane from Frankfort Airport on 16 March 2013 at 9.55.
