The 1st studyng meeting was in Turkey, Istanbul from 17-21 October 2011
6 teachers and 10 students (6 girls and 4 boys) from Kohtla-Järve Ühisgümnaasium visited Istanbul Ataturk Anodolu Lisesi.
On Monday (17 October 2011), we visited the school where we introduced our city (Kohtla-Järve), country (Estonia) and school (Kohtla-Järve Ühisgümnaasium). Then we had the introduction of Beyoglu, visited the church and Galatasaray High School. After having lunch, we visited Topkapı Palace (Topkapı Sarayı). On Tuesday (18 October 2011), we showed 2 presentations. The first one was`Our painters` and after the coffee break the second one was`Our Historical areas`. Then we had a picnic in Yıldız Park, visited Dolmabahçe Palace (Dolmabahçe Sarayı), had a wonderful tour along Bosporus by ship and finished that day with the dinner at the Bosporus.
On Wednesday (19 October 2011), we saw the special programme of Tuna High School students; theatre play and folk dances, then we had lunch - traditional turkish Cuisine. While the teachers were at the meeting, the students were in the Forum Istanbul (Shopping Centre) where they could see the Aquarium – museum of ice sculptures. In the evening we had Turkish coffee break at Pierre Loti and tasted Turkish Cuisine in the garden of Tuna Highschool.
On Thursday (20 October 2011), we visited İstanbul archaeological museum, visited İstanbul high school, Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya). After having lunch, we visited Bazilica Cistern(Yerebatan Sarnıcı), Sultan Ahmet Mosque(Blue Mosque) (Sultanahmet Camii).
On Friday (21 October 2011), we had the Seminar: "Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage". After the coffee break we had a wonderful shopping in Historic Egyptian Bazaar (Spice Bazaar) (Mısır Çarşısı) and in Grand Bazaar(Kapalı Çarşı). We had lunch at the Sultan Ahmet Köftecisi and saw Military Museum and Cultural Site Command where Mehter team presented Mehter show.
